Redefining Ballerism: Upping the Ante

Redefining Ballerism

On a walk in 2009, I saw the bottom of a massive chandelier through the transom window of a lovely Seattle home. It was back-lit by Lake Washington, catching the crystals and my attention. Continuing on, the same home had a very wilted basketball net above the garage door, making it obvious that the net needed replacement! The series was born there and continues with Maverick, a rhinestone net, both with and without elaborate shimmer. Victory Lap was created in 2016, though I had wanted to build it for several years. Inspired by 80s hiphop styling of Slick Rick, LL Cool J and RUN DMC, the dookie and rope chains make a further comment on ballerina and strutting your wealth.
